In addition, the IRS will review a private school's use of a racial designation on a document to verify that the organization properly obtained the certification and that racial description in the information provided matches the name of the school, rather than a racially identified person.” So why not take a second look at these private schools? I don't see how this program is relevant to taxpayers, while a new program to ensure taxpayers are able to learn about race and ethnicity is relevant. In any case, the IRS would rather just spend your money on other tax purposes as opposed to this program. How Can Employers Use Race and Ethnicity Tax Documents? The DOJ will use this as a barometer to know if more schools need to file their Form 5578. With these efforts from the Department of Education and the Department of Justice, we will have the necessary tools we need to ensure that every student across the nation has an equal opportunity in school. I want to thank President Obama and Secretary DeVos for their guidance and leadership. It is their commitment to a healthy, safe and diverse America that I remain focused on. Thank you again for making this a priority. The Honorable John T. King, Jr. Secretary of Education The Honorable Ted Mitchell, Deputy Secretary The Honorable Richard Riley, Acting.
